MIGRATION
EXHIBITION OF PRINTMAKING AND GLASS
CURATED BY THE YARD PRINT STUDIO
30 Oct - 14 Nov
The George Gallery
Newnham-on-Severn
This years exhibition from The Yard Print Studio and friends is a special one. Featuring 13 artists; printmakers from The Yard and local glass artists have made new work especially for the theme of migration. The exhibition includes sculptural works and installation in glass and paper as well as framed works and artist books.
“In this exciting and thought provoking exhibition, these artists celebrate the extraordinarily diverse range of natural, historical and global phenomena associated with migration, and invite us to explore contemporary attitudes and ideas around this richest of subjects.
The fragility of glass and paper - materials used for millennia to communicate ideas and connect people - throws into relief the timeless forces that compel migrations and the stories that describe them; stories which are intricate, beautiful, and often heartbreaking. Through the lens of the Migration exhibition, you will gain insights into the forced journeys, journeys of necessity and journeys of choice which are forged and shared by all living things as part of the evolution of life on this planet.
The George Gallery is an especially appropriate venue for this exhibition, being located only a stone’s throw from the River Severn with its great tides and furious currents and which throughout history has witnessed innumerable human and animal migrations, as well as its own path of desire.”
